Foster carers and child protection workers were among winners at this week’s 2017 Victorian Protecting Children Awards.
The awards recognise child protection practitioners, and community members and groups who support vulnerable children.
The department hosted the annual event, with more than 200 people attending.
Department Secretary Kym Peake MC’d for the night and Minister for Children and Families Jenny Mikakos co-presented the awards. The Minister’s Award for Innovative Care went to foster carer Fiorina Castellan.
Anglicare Victoria CEO, Paul McDonald received the Robin Clark Leadership Award for his dedicated work of nearly 40 years with disadvantaged and vulnerable children and families.
The awards also acknowledge dedicated child protection staff from across the state, along with family support and innovative educational programs, and contributions to child protection policy and practice.
