Carers make an invaluable contribution to the Victorian community.
In Victoria there are more than 773,000 people who put their time and effort into caring for a partner, family member or friend who needs them.
The Victorian Government is working in partnership with Carers Victoria to develop a Carer Statement which will outline how we can best support and recognise carers.
For some people, being in a care relationship can have a profound impact on their lives and the opportunities available to them. Victoria’s first Carer Statement is a big step towards focusing on the role of carers in their own right so we can better respond to their needs.
We are working with Carers Victoria to gather the views of carers and organisations that support them.
We want to know what works best in existing services and supports, and what could be improved. We want to learn more about service gaps and how we can fix them.
You can have your say by attending one of the consultations hosted by Carers Victoria, or by completing an online survey.
Visit the Carers Victoria website to complete the survey, read the consultation paper or find out more.
