The Senior Practitioner report 2015-2016 summarises the achievements and activities during the ninth year of monitoring and evaluating restrictive interventions in disability services in Victoria.
It has been another busy and productive year. In particular, this year we worked collaboratively with the Department of Education and Training to help improve practice in schools.
Our monitoring of restrictive interventions shows that the majority of people are chemically restrained and chemical restraint shows an increasing trend over time; there are a number of projects in place to address this issue.
Our analysis also showed decreasing trends in mechanical restraint and seclusion but a slight increase in the use of physical restraint.
